This creek is at the base of the Stone Mountain located in Stone Mountain State Park close to Roaring Gap, NC. As I painted, I was joined by a group of fly fishermen who were curious to see what I was doing. Standing on a large rock in the creek bed gave me a great perspective of the small water fall upstream. I even had a little room to back up from the easel to check out the progress. I drove 3 hours to paint at the park and then ended up with only an hour and a half between rain showers. Rain and pastels just do not mix well. I liked the progress I had made on the painting and once I was back at home I jumped at the chance to finish this one. Although I was in the comfort of my dry studio, I missed the experience of finishing the painting in the midst of fabulous scenery with the sound of water cascading near by.
